Party On with Party Options – Have a New Year’s Eve Party!

With Christmas only days away, start planning your New Year’s Eve Party right now! It’s easy to get all wrapped up with Christmas and forget to organise your New Year’s celebrations.  Wave goodbye to 2011 and welcome in 2012 with a fun filled New Year’s Eve Party this year! Party Options have a great selection of decorations and tableware to help your party go off with a bang!

Here at Party Options our favourite way to spend New Year’s Eve is to invite lots of friends round for a banquet of food, complemented by some dance floor filler tunes and of course some decadent cocktails! So here’s the plan:

Of course we need to decorate our room, but we don’t need too much as we already have our Christmas decorations up.  But add a bit of pizazz with some 2012 balloons and some hanging decorations dotted about.  Some good old fashioned streamers draped around the room give an instant party feel to any room.  Don’t forget your banners too! Pop one outside over your front door so everyone knows where the party is!  On or two other accessories which are an absolute must have at any New Year’s Eve Party are the blow outs, party poppers and champagne bubbles for the stroke of midnight.

Make sure you invest in some tableware to minimise any clearing up!  We have a great choice of various different colours, but why not theme your party with either the fabulous 50’s, swinging 60’s, disco 70’s or the pop culture of the awesome 80’s? Pick a theme and there you have the basis for a dress code and music selection!

Ask everyone to make a contribution to the party food, drink and even music.  It means everyone can get involved and is less work for the host. We don’t know about you but we don’t like to be stuck in the kitchen whilst everyone else is partying! Share the work.  Give everyone enough notice and let them know what your need them to bring. Ask them for a few music choices so you can guarantee everyone will want to get up and boogie when their favourite tunes come on.

Let’s not forget about the cocktails!  Here are a couple of recipes for some Champagne cocktails, well, what else would you be drinking at a New Year’s Eve Party?

Classic Champagne Cocktail (Courtesy of Andy Pearson, BBC Food)

This decadent cocktail of champagne laced with cognac is perfect for special occasions. Treat yourself this Christmas. (We like to serve this on arrival.)

Ingredients

1 white sugar cube

2 dashes bitters

20ml/¾fl oz cognac

Enough champagne to fill the glass

Preparation method

Place the sugar cube onto a spoon and add the bitters.

Drop the soaked sugar cube into a champagne flute and add the cognac.

Top up the glass with champagne and serve.

 

Rose Prosecco Cocktail (Courtesy of Sophie Dahl, BBC Food)

A delicate and fragrant take on a champagne cocktail – perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

1 bottle Prosecco

4-6 tbsp rose syrup (available from specialist suppliers)

Preparation method

Pour the Prosecco into the serving glasses and then drizzle the rose syrup gently on top, allowing it to trickle down to the bottom.

Trick or Treat?

With just a few days to go until the Halloween ghouls and ghosts come out to play you will probably already have your party planned! Have you got your kiddy winks organised with their trick or treat goodies? Are you prepared for the knock at the door on the hallowed eve?  Make sure you have your outfit sorted. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Why not give the kids a fright and answer the door in our skull face spooky mask? It’s not too late to get your children a mask to wear on the night, and dressed in black with one of our striking children’s masks this Halloween outfit couldn’t be simpler! Choose from either devil, Frankenstein or a witch.  We also have a witch’s cape and fingers to complete the look.  If you want a really effective horror look you will be need some scary fake vampire blood!

Whether you will be answering the door of your haunted house to trick or treaters or joining the ghosts and ghouls on their hunt for treats, here at Party Options we have some great trick or treat gifts which any child will be delighted to pop in their cauldron or pumpkin! Obviously we all know that children love to collect sweets and candy but why not be a bit different this year and offer them something else or mix it up a bit?   How about some of our horrid monster figurines? We have orange spike, purple, yellow horn, purple screaming, blue one eyed, green long eyed.   As an alternative to sweets how about these Chocolate Spider Cookies? You could even shower your ghoulish visitors with some Halloween confetti!

Once you have all returned home safely from the witching hour you will probably all be really hungry.  So we have had a little witch hunt of our own and found some fantastic Halloween food fit for ghouls and ghosts and gobbledegook’s!  Make sure you have all your Halloween tableware. Most of all we really like these funky Halloween Fizzy Drinks Party Labels!  These Halloween drinks bottle labels are great fun and will be a talking point of any Halloween party.  Great for the large 2 litre pop bottles, the labels just stick over the original label. All of a sudden you can now serve up Creepy Crawley, Spirits of the Dead and Dr Dracula to all of your spooky guests!

Halloween Party Ideas at Party Options

Firstly you need to organise your party! This is a great time of year to have a big party that both adults and children can get really involved in.  Start sending out your invitations now giving everyone plenty of notice. The more notice you give them more time they have to get their costumes ready! Everyone can really go to town on costumes for Halloween so why not have a fancy dress competition?  We even have Halloween costume awards that you can present to the lucky winners!

Why not turn a room of your house into a witch’s lair, a pumpkin palace or a ghoulish graveyard? A darkened room tented with some inexpensive black fabric or a few of our table cloths would make the perfect backdrop for your party venue.  Fill your room with creepy crawlies and hanging bats, cover your windows with scary faces. Scatter the room with eye ball and spider web balloons and don’t forget the pouncing rat which will really give your guests a fright!  Don’t just do the party room though, make sure your guests are scared out of their wits before they even get inside. We have window and door decorations and you can put up outside or in your porch.

Lay your table fit for a freaky feast with a black table cloth scattered with ghostly or pumpkin confetti. We have a selection of themed tableware to suit the occasion. Can you see yourself camping out on the streets of London along with thousands of other hopefuls for centre court tickets for Wimbledon? Hmmmm no we didn’t think so! That’s why we here at Party Options have come up with the best possible alternative for front row centre court seats in the comfort of your own home.

Now you have all the ingredients for a lovely relaxed afternoon which you can share with your friends and get the best view and you haven’t even had to step out of the house, let alone camp out in the rain! It’s a Pirates Life at Party Options!

Arrrrr me hearty’s! “Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides” is the newest release of the series of fantasy-adventure films by Disney! It hits our screens on May 18th 2011. Jack Sparrow is engaged in yet another quest, this time for the Fountain of Youth. Hopefully if he finds it he won’t mind sharing!  

With the Pirate theme so prominent in our cinemas this spring why not have your own Pirate themed party? How about giving your school or nursery summer fete a pirates theme? Either way, look no further shipmates, for here at Party Options we stock everything you could possibly need for a fun party which will look great with all our accessories.

Setting the scene

Don’t forget, for the best parties you need to set the scene with pirate accessories .  Why not place a couple of 6ft inflatable palm trees at the entrance of your venue? You can even hang monkeys and parrots on them for a great effect!

Pirates and shipmates listen up!

You will need to make sure you look the part too! This doesn’t have to be any more complicated than a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt. But why not dress it up with a hat or a bandana, add a friendly parrot on your shoulder and of course you wouldn’t be a true pirate without an eye patch. Just for the finishing touch you could use the Snazaroo pirate face painting kit to add some nice bushy eyebrows and a beard that could put Blackbeard’s to shame! Be warned shipmates, your adventure may take you through rough terrain or you might come across some rival pirates, so be prepared and arm yourself with a trusty sword!

Games

In true tradition no party would be complete without party games and even these can be themed.  Clearly there must be a treasure hunt so why not think of a few clues and send your merry shipmates off looking for treasure? Pop some buried treasure party flags around your venue with a fresh clue attached to each one. The intrepid treasure seekers will have to hunt for the hidden treasure chest and then smash it open to reveal the hidden loot! Also you could try our buried treasure party game which is loosely based on pin the tail on the donkey. Have a look at our gifts section for some great prizes.

Feast Fit for a Pirate!

After all that treasure seeking and adventure your pirates and shipmates will need a hearty feast. The theme can be followed through to your table presentation to include pirate themed table cloths, cups, plates and napkins. Select individually or why not make life easy and opt for a pirate themed party pack?

So shipmates raise the Jolly Roger and have a swashbucklin’ party and see if you can’t find some loot! Yo ho ho!
